Designing a Mock-Up

‘m in the process of designing a Website for green oriented weddings, WEDinGREEN.com, is fake, i made up the name, someday I might actually make it.

The first step in the process is to pick a color, so I made 3 color swatches in photoshop

This is swatch 1 is the safest out of them all, going with the pink and grey that is so common on wedding websites, green is added to emphasize the ecological element of the website. Also the i added the blue to change the style a little bit.

This is the second one I made. More cheerfulin a sense, but still in the business realm. The brighter green was chosen to over emphasize the eco aspect, also the brow was added to give more of an earth tone to the site.

Thethird scheme made was leaning more towards a green site than a wedding site, the earth feel to it is clear but the wedding element to it was not as strong as necessary.

I have decided to use the 2nd color swatch cause it sticks more to the logo, and it has the business fomality but still pertreing the ecological aspect, which at the end is the whole point of the site.

Following is the selection of fonts, their size, families, color of active and inactive links. This is what I came up with, the options are just so it will show in different machines, although all the fonts used in the design are “web safe” we as designers can never know who has a dinosaur like computer, so my first choice is with more recent web fonts and the second choice is what every computer comes with, Times and Verdana.

The step after knowing how your site is going to make your client feel is guiding your client through your site. The Nav Bar is one of the most important elements on a website, as it will let people know where they are. For this site i picked a really simple nav bar, no tabs or drops, is stressful enough to deal with the wedding arrangements so I don’t want to complicate my clients life any more. Thats the reason I simplified the Bar as much as possible, fewer buttons and a pointer to know which page you are on. Here is a sample.

The next step is to pic the bullet points, (if used) not to hard to pic for this website since the logo works already as bullet points

Ok so the next step is the box frame, the layout, probably one of the most important steps

Earth Day

Well as we all should know yesterday ( 04/22/08 ) was “Earth Day”, so I decided to post on of my old Image Manipulation projects. The phrase basically tells the message…we are all gonna die, so we need to leave a well taken care of planet for the generations ahead.

Traits of a cartoonist

While I was in my Design Layout class making thumbnails for my online portfolio, I ‘rediscover’ one of my old illustrations of when i was super bored. It was made as a representation of David and Goliath. Soon I will be posting the complete Graphic for criticism

Soo… here I go..

I’m gonna start blogging because my Design Layout teacher though it was a good idea. I personally think is a great idea, but, is kind of hard typing with one hand. So I’m gonna limit my blogs to what is strictly necessary until my arm heals, peace, love and stay away from yellow snow.
